Chaos & Crocodiles Nail Lacquer- Once Upon A Unicorn Collection & Dragon Stories Review

PressSample
Happy Saturday lovelies! Today's my grandmother's funeral and I can already say I am feeling somewhat relieved. You know? I'm talking about that feeling of peace you get once you accept the fact that a loved one's passing was actually in their best interest. That's me. Right now. Anyway, today's her funeral, so we are celebrating her life!

I have the privilege of reviewing for Chaos & Crocodiles Nail Lacquer, an indie brand known for amazing creativity and awesome holos. I am excited and honored to be able to share my thoughts on these polishes with you. You will not be disappointed, so let's get right to it...

The first polish is from the Once Upon a Unicorn Collection, which is new collection being launched tomorrow (more details below). Spun Sugar Magic is described by the maker as "a lavender/orchid holo with a hint of purple shimmer." This one is the perfect mixture of purple and pink. I'd classify as a pinkish purple, rather than a purplish pink. Hopefully that makes sense. The formula was impeccable and went on in two easy coats with no issues. I absolutely love the creamy nature of this holo! This is definitely my kind of pink...er...purple... :/

Wishing Star Sky is another gorgeous holo from the Once Upon A Unicorn Collection. It is described by the brand as "purple-leaning periwinkle holo with a hint of blue shimmer." I seriously LOVE this one so hard! It is the perfect dusty periwinkle, which is perfect for the spring. Again, the formula was amazing and gave me no issues during application. I used two coats for this mani. It had the same creamy consistency as Spun Sugar Magic, which is great!

The last polish I was sent to share with you is called Dragon Stories. This is a new addition to the Dreaming of Dragons series of polishes Sarey has been releasing lately. According to the maker, Dragon Stories is "fuchsia, purple, and blue multichrome flakies and a touch of holographic pigment in an indigo-leaning dark purple base." Man this is gorgeous! It is also a pain in the wazoo to photograph properly! I did my best, but I wish I had been able to capture more of the purple in the base and the flakies. Anyway, the formula was great and went on easily in three thin coats. I had no issues with application or staining with this one.

Ummmm...WOW! That pretty  much sums up my thoughts on these three beauties from Chaos & Crocodiles. The Once Upon A Unicorn Collection is the brand's spring release and it is GORGEOUS!! I only had two of them to share with you, but there are a total of six. I will be picking up a couple of the other colors I really like. I am also really loving the Dragon Stories polish and a few others from the Dreaming of Dragons series. Hopefully the others will be available as well. Lynnderella- Fall in Love With New York Collection Review

PressSample
Hi guys! It’s Friday and I am currently in Florida. My paternal grandmother was recently placed in hospice after having two major strokes on each side of her brain. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed away on Wednesday afternoon, so I am here to say my final goodbyes as she is laid to rest. Thank you so much for youth positive thoughts, good vibes, and prayers. I have some beautiful microglitters from Lynnderella's Fall in Love with New York Collection to review for you today.

Positively East Fifth Street is described by the brand as "a subtle holographic orange microglitter with small assorted multi glitter accents in a clear base." The formula was good and it went on easily in two coats. Topcoat was used for a super smooth and glossy finish. There were no issues with application. I really like the colors in this one!! This is my favorite of the three.

NoMad is on an Island "is a honey caramel butterscotch gold holographic with gold, copper and tan accents in a clear base." This one had a slightly chunkier formula than the prior one, but application was still good. I used three thin coats and topcoat here. This is definitely an eye-catcher, so make sure you are in the mood for attention when wearing this one!

Flat Irony, according to the brand, "is a burnt red orange microglitter with a subtle blackened base." The formula on this one was all kinds of perfect! It went on easily in just two coats. Topcoat was used for these pics. The color of this ones so exquisite, it felt really regal when on! Hopefully that makes sense to you! LOL!

These microglitters from the Fall in Love with New York Collection by Lynderella are all on point. The formulas were good and the colors are perfect jewel tones. These polishes and the others from the collection are available for $18 each or $170 for the 9-piece collection. More info listed below.

Royal Lacquer Review & Swatches

Royal Laquer
PressSample
Hiyah there Polished Babes! I have a review of some pretties from a new-to-me brand called Royal Lacquer. You may recall me mentioning this brand when I reviewed the Vynails by Royal Lacquer during my St. Paddy's Day post. Anyway, the owner, Tiffany is a sweetheart (of course...check out that name ;) and she sent me these beauties to share with you.

Lipsmacker is described by the brand as a "bubblegum pink, creamy holo." I think that description is right on target. Lipsmacker was sheer on the first coat, but built up nicely in three thin coats. The formula was good and didn't give me any issues at all. I really like this color!

Derby Girl is a "deep violet jelly with small holo, pink hex glitters." It also has the perfect amount of scattered holo particles (or at least they appear to be), which gives it great dimension in conjunction with the glitters. The formula was thick, but it a good way. It applied like a breeze and went on easily in two coats. This one is absolutely gorgeous and my favorite of the ones I was sent! :)

Velvet Suit Man, according to the brand, is a "bright red with subtle holo." Bright indeed....this baby isn't subtle at all! The formula was absolute perfection and gave me no issues whatsoever. It was completely opaque in just one coat, but I used two as usual.

Next up is Miss Priss, "light lavender leaning violet jelly with muli-sizes, shapes & colors of glitter." This one has a super sheer base and chunky glitters, so application was slightly more demanding. I needed four coats to reach opacity and I needed to wait several minutes between each coat to prevent the glitters from dragging. I think the end result is super cute though!

The last polish I have for you today is Tucson. This one is described by the maker as "a turquoise jelly with multi-sized and shaped gold glitter & gold holo glitters with chocolate brown glitters. There is also glints of iridescent blue/green square glitters." The formula on Tucson is rather thin, but careful application results in a gorgeous mani! I used three thin coats and I absolutely adore this color combination. Although the formula is thin, it isn't overly problematic. You just have to be careful to prevent flooding the cuticle area. Anyway, this is my second fave! Love, love, love!!

Overall, my first experience with Royal Lacquer products has been a complete win! I think these polishes are cute and creative and the Vynails are easy to work with for nail art designs. Be sure to check out the important info below regarding the brand.

Twinsie Tuesday- Pinterest Inspiration

PurchasedbyMe

PressSample
Hi there lovelies! I hope you are all doing well and having a much better/easier go at life right now. Unfortunately, I am dealing with a lot right now in my personal life. The most pressing issue is the looming death of my paternal grandmother. She is currently in hospice and expected to pass away at any given moment. Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers.

Today's Twinsie Tuesday prompt is to create a manicure inspired by Pinterest. Honestly, this is one of the easiest prompts, as most of my nail art manicures are pinned to or found in Pinterest. For this manicure, I was inspired by this look by Lakeisha of Refined & Polished. Ironically, she created this mani for a TT post when we did grunge manicures. She was inspired by Sarah of Chalkboard Nails and she actually linked Sarah's review in her original post. Anyway, I pinned this mani to my Inspiration & Ideas board back when Keish first created it because I really love the colors she used. *Side note: could her nails and cuticles be anymore flawless? Ugh...

For my recreation, I decided to use my favorite color...purple! DUH! ;) Anyway, I used two easy coats of OPI Lost My Bikini in Molokini from the Hawaii Collection (full review coming soon). I think this is such a pretty purple and the formula is great! I applied the purple to my thumb, index, and pinky fingers.
OPI Lost My Bikini In Molokini

For the brushstroke accent nails, I used different colored cremes from multiple brands (sorry forgot to write them down). I decided to go with the same overall color scheme she used, but added in my purple. I really like these colors together.
OPI Lost My Bikini In Molokini

The brushstroke technique wasn't difficult at all. Unfortunately, I still couldn't execute it as I would've liked. LOL! I really love how the colors came out in Keish's design, but I feel like mine aren't balanced. Does that make sense? Anwway, I wish both nails had come out more like the ring finger.
OPI Lost My Bikini In Molokini

Overall, I like this look and I will try it again with more colors and hopefully it will come out better. This isn't a total fail, so I can definitely be proud of that. LOL!

Twinsie Tuesday- Happy St. Patrick's Day!

PressSample
Happy St. Paddy's Day Polished Babes!!! Since it's Twinsie Tuesday, we decided to incorporate  the holiday into the theme for the week. Take a look at what I created below!

The focal point of this mani is this stunning green linear holo from Smitten Polish called Girl Sprouts. If you watch "The Big Bang Theory," you know what this polish name is referring to! LOL! Oh that Amy Farrah Fowler! Anyway, back to the polish. I used three thin coats of this beauty, as the formula was rather thin.

I created some simple, yet cute (IMO...but I'm biased) nail art using KBShimmer Goldie Rocks and some "small wavy chevron" Vynails by Royal Lacquer. The Vynails from Royal Lacquer were provided for review and this was my first time testing them. They apply nicely and have the perfect amount of adhesion to the nail. One thing that really stood out to me is that they did not lose their adhesiveness when I needed to rearrange them on my nails. This is even after moving them multiple times. Furthermore, the adhesion was just enough that they also didn't remove any polish from my nails, even though they weren't as dry as I would have liked.

I really like how these wavy chevrons came out! It's just a slight change from the traditional chevrons with straight lines, but I really like them.
St. Patrick's Day Nail Art

Overall, I am super pleased with this design! I like how I was able to incorporate some nail art into this theme, while allowing the manicure to remain wearable for work on St. Paddy's Day (remember my definition of wearable to work is may be different from yours). I mean...I could wear some super crazy and out there nail art to work, but that's just not my style. The gold and green also remind me of University of South Florida, which is where I completed my first three years of undergrad. Sniff sniff...brings back so many memories.
St. Patrick's Day Nail Art

Be sure to check out Vynails by Royal Lacquer for these awesome wavy chevrons and various other design choices. Make sure you stay tuned for a review of some pretties from Royal Lacquer as well!

OPI 50 Shades of Grey Collection Review

PressSample
What is this? OPI on P2P.... yep!! You see it! Welcome to my first official review for OPI. The brand doesn't need any introduction, so lets just take a look at the polishes included in the 50 Shades of Grey Collection. I haven't read the book or seen the movie, but I know that there is somewhat of a cult-like following! All that aside, I am really digging the grey polishes included.

My Silk Tie is a metallic shimmering silver polish with a frost-like finish. The formula was surprisingly good, since these types of shades can be a major pain to work with at times. Although there were no formula application issues, the chrome/metallic finish left brushstrokes across the nails. I used two coats and topcoat here.

Cement the Deal (talk about a play now words!) is a light grey creme polish. The formula was good and went on without any issues in three thin coats. This is a very versatile grey that seems to be universally flattering from the other photos I've seen.

Dark Side of the Mood is a deep charcoal grey creme with a slight hint of shimmer. This one was surprisingly streaky and patchy when applying. I definitely expected more pigmentation, but three coats were used here. The shimmer is pretty, but not very noticeable, especially in pictures.

Embrace the Gray is a medium grey creme with an excellent formula. This is one that I was really looking forward to and it did not disappoint. Again, this shade of grey (pun intended) appears to be universally flattering. I used two coats and topcoat here.

Shine for Me has shimmering silver base with blue and silver glitter. The formula was really easy to work with and became opaque in just two coats. Topcoat was used to create a smooth finish.

Romantically Involved is a true red creme. The formula was absolutely perfect. I applied two coats and topcoat without any issues.

Here's a pic of a simple dotticure I wore with Romantically Involved, Cement the Deal, Dark Side of the Mood, and My Silk Tie.

OPI 50 Shades of Grey

The OPI 50 Shades of Grey Collection is still available for purchase for $9.50 ($11.50 CAN) each at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Chatters, Dillard’s, Regis, ULTA and ulta.com.

Are you a fan of the 50 Shades of Gray book? Have you seen the movie that was released recently? Any polishes catch your eye?
