Pretty & Polished- Holographic Polishes Review

PressSample
Happy Saturday Polished Babes! I hope your weekend is going well! How has this week been for you? We have really been getting hit pretty hard with snow storms. After the big dump last Tuesday, we got more on Friday, and we'll be getting another foot or so on Monday. Anyway...there's snow err where! LOL!

Today I have three beautiful holo polishes from Pretty & Polishes most recent release. All of these are absolutely stunning and they have the most beautiful holo and shimmer. Traveling' Down Dusty Rose "is a soft muted pink holographic shade." I used two easy coats for these photos. The formula was absolutely amazing and soooo creamy!! The holo isn't super strong on this one, but I think it's just the right amount for this beauty.

Rust Have Red, according to the brand, "is a deep red jelly holographic shade." Again, this one has a great formula and went on easily in just two coats. The holo was more apparent in this one, but still not overwhelming. Just perfect! I love these deeper sexy type of reds.

The last polish I was sent to share with you is called Lean, Mean, Aquamarine. The brand describes this one as "a soft aqua holographic." This one had the least apparent holo, but it also had a soft shimmer that really made it stand out. The formula on this one was very thin, but not problematic. I used three coats for these pictures.

KBShimmer- Men Are From Mars-ala Review

PressSample
Happy Monday Polished Babes! I hope your weekend went well! If you're in the Northeastern part of the US, you are preparing for this blizzard along with me. I've experienced a few snow storms and snow days since we moved up here, but this is my first blizzard. We are prepared though. My husband stocked us up on essentials, we have a generator, and other necessities. Please make sure you take care of yourselves, children, the elderly, and pets.

Today I have a beautiful polish from KBShimmer to share with you. As you may (or may not) know, the Pantone color of the year for 2015 is Marsala. Here's a tidbit from the brand regarding this polish...
"Celebrate the New Year and Pantone’s 2015 Color of the Year with KBShimmer! “Men are from Mars-ala” is an earthy, red-brown shade that will make a fresh new addition to any neutral nail palette. Worn outdoors or in bright light, Men are from Mars-ala features a linear holographic and when indoors, this shade is rich and warm – just like a glass of Marsala wine should be!"

KBShimmer Men Are From Mars-ala

For this mani, I used two easy coats of Men Are From Mars-ala. The formula was perfect and very creamy. There were no issues with application. The holo is very strong and absolutely stunning!

KBShimmer Men Are From Mars-ala

What do you think of this beauty? I am in love with Marsala as Pantone's Color of the Year, so this is a definite win for me. Add in some amazing holo and a perfect formula and we have a winner here! Live Love Polish- Seche Nouveau & Seche Vite Topcoat Review

Happy Sunday lovelies! I was recently contacted by Live Love Polish to review some Seche products for their store. Today I have a review of one polish (Nouveau) and the famous (or infamous, depending on your viewpoint) Seche Vite topcoat. Although, I have tried the topcoat before, I have never had any experience with the brand's nail polishes. Let's take a look, shall we?

Seche Nouveau is a super pigmented charcoal grey creme polish. When I said pigmented, that's exactly what I meant. This baby was perfect in just one coat!! Additionally, the formula was amazing and went on effortlessly. I used two coats as usual, but you can certainly get away with just one. I really liked how shiny this one was, even before Seche Vite Topcoat was applied.
Seche Nouveau

As stated above, I used Seche Vite Topcoat for these pics. To be honest, I really like this topcoat; however, it does cause some weird issues with shrinkage at times. The dry time with this topcoat is nothing short of amazing! I mean...WOW! You can apply this topcoat and you're good to go with a few minutes! With this particular use, I also used Seche Ridge Filling Basecoat (not provided for review), two coats of Seche Nouveau, and one coat of Seche Vite Topcoat and this manicure lasted for a few days before I began to see any signs of shrinkage or normal wear. I'm not sure if the combination of using all Seche products made a difference, but I was pleasantly surprised at how the manicure looked as the days passed. I was also really impressed by the amount of visible shine that remained as time passed!
Seche Nouveau

In all, I absolutely LOVE Seche Nouveau, as the color is perfect in formula, application, and longevity. Seche Vite Topcoat performed impressively as well. Again, I am not sure if it is due to the combination of all Seche products that I used for this review or other factors, but the topcoat was really nice. I also used it on some nail art (it will be featured here soon) and I like how it didn't smear the art and it dried very quickly keeping the design in place. Regardless, I am very pleased with both Seche Nouveau Nail Polish and Seche Vite Topcoat

Ever After Polish- Bloody Valentine Collection Review

PressSample
Happy Friday lovelies! Today I have a review of a new-to-me indie brand called Ever After Polish. Rachel, one of the brand's owners, contacted me a few weeks ago about reviewing for the brand and I readily accepted. When the package arrived, I was very pleased with what was inside. Let's go ahead and take a look at the Bloody Valentine Collection from Ever After Polish...

Man Eater is described by the brand as "a teal crelly loaded with assorted flakies and glitters." I see a lot of pink, purple, and blue glitters and flakies. This is such a great color combination! I used two coats and there were no issues with application. Additionally, there was no staining upon removal.

Lyra is described as "a blue/green colorshift." It is a densely packed aqua micro glitter polish. It applied slightly patchy on the first coat, but evened out and looked perfect after the second coat. I really love how bright and pretty this one is. It reminds me of the waters in the Caribbean.

Be Mine or Die, according the brand, is a "black jelly with royal purple flakes and holographic glitter." The formula on this one was pretty thick, so I had to wait longer than usual between coats to prevent dragging. I spoke with Rachel about this and she stated that she had noticed the issue and it has been reformulated to be thinner and have easier application. Isn't that great?! This is just two coats of this beauty.

Bloody Valentine is described by the brand as "a crimson jelly with red flakes, glitter, and micro glitter." To be honest, I really don't see crimson in this polish. I see a red leaning orange with red and orange micro glitters. Either way....look at this baby! Whoa! Talk about hott! This one is FI-YAH! Anyway, I used two coats here and there were no issues with application.

Stupid Cupid is actually a surprise favorite for me! Well... second place, but you should be able to see why this is a surprise for me. Y'all know I am not a pink girl, but this polish is AMAZING! Stupid Cupid has a light pink jelly base with white and silver glitters. Ummm... for real? Super cute! I can't wait to use this one on my baby girl! The formula was amazing and went on without any issues in three thin coats.

The next one is called 2 Hot 4 U. It is a pale lilac holographic polish with an amazing silver shimmer. I used two easy coats here and the formula was pretty good.

Last, but definitely not least, we have Jagged Heart. I keep wanting to call this Jagged Edge. LOL! Anyway, this is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE polish from the collection. Actually, this may be one of the prettiest and most unique polishes I have worn in a while. Oh...let me tell you about it, eh? Well, this beauty has a grey crelly base with multicolored multi-chrome flakies. Yes, please! I used two easy coats and topcoat here. The formula was just as amazing as the beauty itself!

Overall, I am really impressed with my first experience with Ever After Polish. I think this is a great collection and the diversity gives a little something for the polish lover in all of us. Again, my absolute faves are Jagged Heart and Stupid Cupid (haha...that name!). These are all available now on the Ever After Polish Big Cartel Site. The polishes are all $10, escept for Jagged Heart. It is $10.50. They are also available as a set for $55. There is a promotion running through this weekend. OPI Hawaii Collection for Spring/Summer 2015

PressRelease

Aloha from OPI!

OPI Launches Hawaii Collection Featuring Twelve New Nail Lacquer Shades for Spring/Summer 2015

Hawaii Collection by OPI brings the fresh, bright colors of its namesake islands to nails and toes for Spring/Summer 2015. This new collection features a palette ranging from muted tones of mint, peach, pink and nude to bolder hues of coral, green, purple and gold to deep tones of mauve, violet, brick red and shimmery blue.
“After the long months of winter, women are eager to embrace color – from soft pastels to bold accents to gleaming metallics,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder & Brand Ambassador.  “Caught in a perpetual state of spring, the Hawaiian islands were the ideal inspiration for this year’s seasonal collection. OPI looked toward the surf, sand and sunsets found at Hawaii’s beautiful beaches, as well as the islands’ lush greenery, tropical flowers, and colorful fish, to create 12 fresh new nail shades.
“Printed, flowing fabrics dominated spring runways, with patterns and graphics in both bold and muted hues. Warm, ethereal neutrals in shades of rose, peach and mint added a soft, feminine note,” continues Weiss-Fischmann. “That’s Hula-rious!, a pastel mint green from the Hawaii Collection, was seen at Charlotte Ronson’s Spring/Summer 2015 New York Fashion Week show; this shade was used to create a cutout half moon manicure that complemented the designer’s youthful presentation.”

Hawaii Collection by OPI includes the following shades in both nail lacquer and GelColor formulas:

Twinsie Tuesday- Fandom

PressSample
Happy Twinsie Tuesday Polished Babes!! Today the Twinsies bring you fandom manicures. Umm...so, I'll just assume you're like me and have absolutely no idea what that means. After asking my sister Twinsies, they told me that it is basically a television show, movie series, books, or things of that nature that you absolutely LOVE. You know how it is when you see the Harry Potter and Dr. Who fans? Well...that. Anyway, I am not a big "fandom" person, but I absolutely LOVE the show Scandal, which starts my girl Kerry Washington.  My manicure was created based on a dress worn by the lovely Olivia Pope in one of the episodes. Here's a pic...
Picture retrieved from Google images
I started off the mani using two coats of Zoya Willa, an "onyx black creme" from the Wishes Winter 2014 Collection. This baby was super pigmented and needed only one coat to become completely opaque. As always, I still used two. LOL! I used Willa on my pinky and index fingers and added topcoat (KBShimmer Clearly on Top). For the ring and middle finger accents nails, I used two coats of Polish My Life's Nude Lace (a nude creme). As always with her polishes, the formula was excellent. For the lace part of Olivia's dress, I added a small section of a lace water decal from the Born Pretty Store.
Zoya Willa

After placing the lace water decal on the nails, I gently wiped away the excess water and applied topcoat. Again, I used KBShimmer Clearly on Top. I think this mani represents the simple sophistication of the dress shown above. What do you think?
Polish My Life Nude Lace

Lastly, I'd like to welcome our newest Twinsie to the group! Please make sure you stop by Kristene's blog at Pink & Polished Nails to check out her manicure and welcome her to the group! As always, stop by the other Twinsies blogs to see their fancied manicures. Have a good one!
