Happy Monday! I'd like to say Happy Birthday to my oldest son! He's 11 years old today and I can't believe how time has passed so quickly. Unfortunately, today also marks the two year anniversary of my mother-in-law's passing from Leukemia. So while this is a very happy day in the Jordan household, it is marked with a sadness due to her passing. My MIL and I both love the color purple, so I decided this was the perfect post to honor her memory. I have a review of some purple toned items from Milani's Spring 2015 collection.
If you recall, I wanted to incorporate makeup and beauty into my blog, but man....it's SO DARN HARD to photograph makeup accurately. Ugh. Anyway, here is my first go at an actual makeup blog post. I'm playing around with lighting, camera settings, angles, and all that, but I did my best! Don't be too harsh on me! LOL!
For Spring 2015, Milani introduced a few new products, including the Fierce Foil Eyeshine. These "eyeshines" are a new formula of eyeshadows that are available in four pan palettes. Here's what Milani has to say about them..."Groundbreaking gloss technology formulated especially for your eyes. Instantly create sexy and glamorous looks inspired by the runways of Milan." Well alrighty then... :/
Let's just say umm... me no likey. Although I am no makeup guru, pro, or anything of that nature, I think I am pretty good at applying my own. This eyeshine stuff was a hot mess. Yikes! The texture was really weird. It was surprisingly creamy, while also having a gritty and tacky consistency. I'm really not even sure how that happened. Anyway, I tried making it work as best I could. I ended up with glitter all over my face, as the fallout was insane. I don't know. Maybe I did something wrong. I used my fingertips because a brush wouldn't have worked at all. Sigh....

Here's a look I created using these shadows. I also used Milani Bella Purple (purchased myself) to assist with these eyeshines. I took the opportunity to pair this eye look with two of the new matte lipsticks that I was sent to review as well. I chose a nude and bold lip, to show I'd pair these eyes depending on how I am feeling or where I am going. This first photo shows me with Matte Naked on the lips. I added a little brown lip liner, since this shade ends up being kind of washed out on my complexion.

If you're able to contain yourself and continue with this post, I used Milani Matte Glam (a purple creamy matte lipstick) for a different look. I absolutely LOVE this lipstick!

If you can't already tell, I am really feeling these lipsticks, especially the purple. Both Matte Glam and Matte Naked have great formulas that were super creamy and easy to apply. They last pretty well when lipliner was used and I didn't notice a significant amount of transfer either. I really like both of these colors on my complexion. As for the palette, ummm...NO. Sorry. It's just not for me. All of the products I used are available now and can be purchased on Milani's Website and retailers such as, Walgreens and CVS.
What do you think of my first makeup review post? Do you have any suggestions on how I can improve? Is there anything you'd like to see? Please let me know in the comments below.
