The Proud Beauty Bloggers of Color Present Orange in July!

Nothing to Disclose
Howdy there Polished Babes!!! Well...it's final. The Jordans (well, at least Kendall and I for the moment) are here in New England! We made it up here yesterday morning. At this point, I have not slept in over 30 hours and I am becoming delirious. You know how it is when your adrenaline keeps you moving for a good amount of time, right? Oh, but when it finally hits, it hits hard. That's me. OK..seriously shut up. No one cares. Why are we here? Let's take a look...

A couple of months ago me and Amanda of Amanda Loves Polish were discussing some of the concerns, difficulties, and unique issues we face as minority bloggers of color. We decided to create a group where ethnic, minority, or bloggers of "color" could network, communicate, and build a relationship. We introduced ourselves to the social media world and I was ecstatic to see how pleasantly we were received. We have a lot of support from our fans, other bloggers, indie polish makers, and the nail community in general. For that, I sincerely thank you.

Together we decided to bring you monthly themed posts where we demonstrate our talent, while allowing you exposure to beautiful nail polish, nail art, makeup, and beauty on various complexions. For this month's theme, we chose the color orange. We wanted to do a bright, fun, and summery shade to give you an idea of how beautiful this color can be on are multiple skin tones. I used Rescure Beauty Lounge NailsandNoms. This polish is AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL! It has an orange base with a periwinkle shimmer that is not shy at all!! It went on smoothly in three thin coats.

It is our hope that you can look at these posts as references and guides to help you find yourself in all things beauty related. Additionally, we want to fill that void that is there when new products are released and we (women of color) have no reference or review to use to help guide us to the right products. I hope you find this informative.

Please feel free to let us know if you have any suggestions for colors and looks that you would like to see us present. If you are a blogger and are interested, please contact me via email and I can assist you. We are keeping this a very tight knit group, where we can be free to express ourselves openly without fear of being ridiculed or admonished by others. Thank you for taking the time to read along! We will see you next month!

Twinsie Tuesday- Interlocking Design

Press Sample
Happy Twinsie Tuesday lovelies!!! The Jordans have ONE MORE DAY left in Florida before our big move to New England. OMG.... I cannot believe the time has finally come! I'm truly excited! Today, the Twinsies are showing off some interlocking nail art designs. I recently began a blogger relationship with Milani Cosmetics and my first press samples consist of their entire newly revamped nail polish line, the Color Statement Collection.  Since there are over 30 polishes in the collection, I will be breaking them over time. This post gives me a chance to feature two of the shades and the quick dry topcoat.

Let's begin by looking at the polishes alone. First, we have Mint Crush. This is a mint green creme with some blueish undertones. It applied easily in just two coats. It seemed to dry fairly quickly on its own as well. I added one coat of the Milani Color Statement Quick Dry Topcoat.
Milani Color Statement Mint Crush

The second polish I am showing you today is Imperial Purple. Yes, please!! This one is a beautiful soft dusty purple creme with an absolutely PERFECT formula! It is a one coater, but two coats and the quick dry topcoat were used here. There is literally nothing bad to say about this polish. I love it!
Milani Color Statement Imperial Purple

When looking at tutorials for the interlocking design (yes, I needed a tutorial), I realized there are so many options for colors and methods. I quickly realized that these two polishes would compliment one another perfectly for this look. I began with two coats of Mint Crush. Then I tape of a diagonal section of the nails and added one coat of Imperial Purple

To make the interlocking design, I used the large end of a dotting tool and applied dots in the opposite colors, overlapping the split. I used a smaller end of the dotting tool to add a small dot to the center of the larger ones. One coat of the Milani Quick Dry Topcoat was used to seal the deal.

The new quick dry topcoat had a really good formula and a slightly thick consistency, which I love in a topcoat. The topcoat leaves your nails super shiny and it seems to dry in a decent amount of time. Another bonus is that it did not smear the nail art design when applied. #winning

So what do you think of my first attempt at an interlocking design manicure? Have you had the chance to try any of the new Milani Color Statement Nail Lacquers? You can purchase Milani Cosmetics online by clicking HERE.You can also find these in select retail stores. These polishes retail for approximately $3.99 each. What a steal!

Pretty & Polished Summer Fun FX Polishes Review

Press Sample
Happy Monday!! You know I have to give my daily countdown and I am amazed to say that we are down to 2 more days!! Yay! I am pretty excited still, but I must admit there are times when I think of the move and my nerves get really bad. So much so, that it seems as though I can feel my heart pounding. Ahhhh...does anyone know what I mean? Anyway, I am happy to have my first official review of the well-known indie brand, Pretty & Polished to share with you today. Chels sent me two polishes from her Summer Fun FX Collection, as well as, a cuticle balm stick. I know you're gonna love all of these!

Thermal Remedy is a thermal crelly with glitter. It is bright orange when cold and white when warm. I used three thin coats and topcoat for these photos. The formula was excellent, allowing the glitters to disperse evenly across the nail. The bright orange somewhat overpowers the orange glitters, but those glitters really show off when in the warm state. I really love this combo!

The super cool thing is, I ended up with an instant gradient when applied!

Hootin & Holoin' is a deep red holo with an absolutely AMAZING formula. I seriously can't even begin to tell you how much I love this one! Application was so easy, it seemed to apply itself! It was opaque in just one coat, but you know I always use two. Seriously. I could go on and on about this polish. It is really one sexy red that epitomizes the concept of being "grown & sexy." This will definitely by my next date night polish! Ahhh...

The final item I received for review is the cuticle balm stick. I really like that it comes in a small and very travel friendly container, which looks just like a lip balm. The fragrance was super sweet and smelled just like yummy bubblegum. It was noticeable, but not overbearing. This little stick packs a super moisturizing punch! A little goes a long way and leaves you with moisturized, soft, and great smelling cuticles. I want to get this in other scents! At only $3, these are great to have around.

I must say, I didn't expect anything less than near perfection from Pretty & Polished. They are one of the more established brands in the indie world. They have consistently produced innovative, high quality, and great valued products. Again, I cannot get enough of Hootin & Holoin and I can't wait to wear it again. I am also a big fan of their bath and body products, so I will be adding more (including the cuticle balm stick) to my cart for my next purchase.

You can shop with Pretty & Polished by clicking HERE. Be sure to follow the brand on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for information on new releases, sales, and other fun things.

Have a great Monday!

Polish Addict Nail Color Summer Glitters Review

Press Sample
Hiyah there lovelies!!! I have some more pretties from Polish Addict Nail Color to show you. Laura and Crystal were really cranking out the summer collections like mad women. Well, good for all of us because we get to enjoy the fruits of their labor! Let's dive on in...

Bright White is a true white jelly. I used three easy coats. The formula was very easy to work with and dried to a satin finish. This is definitely a great jelly polish, which would be amazing with so many glitters layered on top or used as a jelly sammich!

Next, I have Glitter Hangover, "a glitter topper with a mix of neon matte glitters, micro gold and silver holo glitters, and matte white and black hex, bar, and rectangle glitters." I used two light coats, because the formula was slightly thick. I also dabbed a few glitters into place as well. One coat of topcoat smoothed everything out and added a super glossy finish.

Dr. Franken is a "glitter topper mixed with matte glitters in various shapes and sizes and a hint of holo dust." This one had an excellent formula, even though the glitter was very dense. I used two thin coats and topcoat for these photos. It is shown over Barbie Code (reviewed here).
Polish Addict Dr.Franken

Lipsticks & Shades is described by the maker as a "glitter topper with neon pink, grey, black, and white glitters." This one has been reformulated since it's release last summer. I used one coat and dabbed another onto Bikini Bottom (reviewed here). I sealed it with topcoat. I really love this combo! I think the contrast between the base color and the colors of the glitters is a winning combination.

Beach Bound is a "glitter topper with a mix of glitters in various shapes, sizes, and colors." This one has almost every shape you can think of! The glitter mixture is quite dense, so only one coat was used. I added two thin layers of topcoat to create a smooth finish. It is shown here over Chasing the Sun (reviewed here).

80's Baby is another glitter topper featuring "a mix of matte neon glitters of various shapes and sizes." I really adore the triangles included in this one! Way too cute! I used one dabbed coat over Lime Light (reviewed here). One thick layer of topcoat was added to smooth it all out.

Raver's Night (LE) is a glitter topper with a shimmering holo base. It has a mixture of yellow, white, blue, aqua, pink, and purple glitters in various shapes and sizes. This one is shown in two coats over Kiss A Mermaid (reviewed here).

Hey Jude is an aqua/mint colored crelly with green, black. and white microglitters. I believe this one is supposed to be a thermal; however, I didn't notice any changes when I wore it. The formula was okay, but slightly thicker than the crellies I'm used to from this brand. Regardless, this is a super cute polish!. I absolutely love this combo!

Polish Addict Nail Color Summer Neon Collection Review

Press Sample
Happy Sunday! Can you believe it? 3 days. THREE!! OMG...I am excited, nervous, anxious, scared...basically all kinds of emotions all in one! Anyway, I am so ready for this to be over. Enough of that...let's take a look at the Polish Addict Summer Neon Collection.
Polish-Addict-Summer-Neons

Each of these had a good formula. Some were downright PERFECT. They all needed three coats, except where stated otherwise. These are all jellies with scattered holo pigment, so the formulas are sheer. Many still left some visible nail line (VNL), which will be mentioned accordingly. They all dry to a satin finish as well.

Chasing the Sun is described by the maker as "a neon yellow orange jelly with scattered holo." This one applied evenly in three coats, but still left some VNL, which isn't very apparent.
Polish Addict Chasing the Sun

Patrick Starfish is a "neon rose red jelly with scattered holo." This is one that had an absolutely AMAZING formula. This is such a gorgeous reddish pink! I love it!

Lime Light is a "neon green with scattered holo." Another great formula here. These three coats went on effortlessly. Check out how bright it is!

Caution, according to the maker, is a "neon orange jelly with scattered holo." This one had more of a burnt orange neon look, making it different from Chasing the Sun above. Unfortunately, the differences are slightly more apparent in real life. Although the differences are slight, they are more distinguishable than what my photos reveal.

Neon Moon is a "neon blue jelly with scattered holo." This one is a very vivid cobalt color. Again, another PERFECT formula. This one is one of the more opaque colors in the collection. I used two easy coats for these photos. I am soooooo in LOVE with this polish! You will also be happy to know that there was no staining upon removal! #winning

Barbie Code is a "neon pink jelly with scattered holo." This one was extremely sheer. Three coats were used and there was still some VNL. Regardless, this hot pink is definitely an eye catching color!

Aqua Haze according to the maker, is a "neon sky blue jelly with scattered holo and navy holo microglitters." This one is not as bright as the others in the collection, but absolutely gorgeous nonetheless. It was very sheer, so four coats were used to for it to become opaque. This one dries to a semi-matte like finish, so topcoat was used. Again, even after four coats, there was s slightly noticeable VNL. I think this one is super cute!

Kiss A Mermaid is described by the maker as "a neon red jelly with scattered holo." Unfortunately, this one appears to be more of a deep red toned orange. I spoke with Laura about this one and she had already updated her shop information to reflect the changes she has noticed with this one. She recently switched to a 5-free base, which may have impacted the color after her original formulation and testing. Anyway, this one has a great formula and three coats were used for these photos.

Bikini Bottom is a "neon yellow jelly with scattered holo." This one was also really sheer and still had a significant amount of VNL after four coats. The formula was absolutely amazing though.

Sea Witch is a "neon purple jelly with scattered holo and matte purple microglitters." The formula on this one was AMAZINGLY, PERFECT, MAGNIFICENTLY WONDERFUL!! I love this! Seriously. Like Neon Moon, this one is more opaque than the others in the collection. I used two easy coats for these photos. Oh yeah...did I mention I love this one?!
