Twinsie Tuesday-Follower Requested- Jelly Pond Manicure

Press Sample
Happy Twinsie Tues everyone! Today's prompt asks us to create a manicure that was requested by our followers. I created a poll that went live with last week's Twinsie Tuesday post and I appreciate your responses. The choices were for me to create a watermarble, jelly pond, saran wrap, or a summer color blocking manicure. The winner was (obviously)....the jelly pond manicure!

I have seen this manicure created a few times and it is so cool looking, so I was very excited to try it. I used a tutorial created by Jacki of Adventures in Acetone. This is a rather simple technique that creares a very complex look. For my jelly polish, I used Island Punch by Loaded Lacquer (previously reviewed here). This jelly is absolutely fantastic and the color is amazing! I followed the steps provided in Jacki's tutorial, but I used small dotted "flowers" instead.

I used four coats of the jelly and added the flowers using a white creme between each coat. I added the final layer of white flowers and then a black one, followed by a very think coat of Island Punch, and one layer of topcoat.

What do you think of this look? It's okay to me. My flowers aren't as defined as they should've been to really show that they're actually flowers. Now that I think of it...this actually looks like clouds! LOL! Oh well, I will definitely try this technique again in the future!

KBshimmer Early Summer 2014 Collection Review

Press Sample
Hiya there Polished Babes!! Today I am super excited to show you the Early Summer 2014 Collection from KBShimmer. As you all may know (well, if you don't, you should), KBShimmer always scores big time with their collections and this one is no different. I only have seven of the new shades, but you can find pictures and descriptions of the others in the Press Release.  This collection has a little something for every polish lover...holo, glitter, texture, and cremes. Seriously...what more could you ask for?

L- R: Partners in Lime, In Bare Form, Let's Not Coral, Too Pop To Handle, Low and Be Bold, Shew Twerks Out, & Run! It's the Coppers!
The Spring 2014 Collection brought us the introduction of KBShimmer to the world of creme polishes and they've added some beautiful colors for the summer collection. Let’s Not Coral is described as "a pink leaning coral cream." That description is spot on! I used two coats and no topcoat. The formula was absolutely amazing and went on without any issues. I absolutely adore this shade of coral since so many I have lean more towards the reddish/orange spectrum. Perfect for the summer!
KBShimmer Let's Not Coral

KBShimmer Let's Not Coral

Low and Be Bold is described as "a bright near ultramarine blue polish." I'm pretty sure I almost fainted when applying this polish. It is so bright and just...WOW! I can't even gather my words! This one seemed to have somewhat of a crelly type of formula, rather than that of a true creme. Regardless...it is absolutely perfect! I used three coats without topcoat and there were no issues with application. I could wear this shade for the rest of my life! This is definitely going in for my next pedi!

Continuing from the amazing holos that were released with the Spring Collection, I have two to show you today. First up is, In Bare Form, "a near nude holographic polish." When I first received the press release, I must admit, I overlooked this one. Something called me back to it and I am so glad it did! This nude is absolutely PERFECT. Not only is the color great, the formula amazing, and the holo flash terrific, but it looks amazing on my complexion. It doesn't cross over into the gold, bronze, or silver looks as some "nude" holos tend to do. I just love it! I used three coats and no topcoat.

Run! It’s The Coppers! is described by the brand as "a metallic copper linear holographic polish." This is one of the first ones to catch my attention. Of all the holo polishes I own, I'm pretty sure this one is unique to my collection. Again, the formula was amazing and went on easily in two coats. I did not use topcoat here. The holo was strong in regular, sun, and artificial lighting. This is another one that plays very well with my complexion. It looks like I have a shiny new penny on my nails!

The next three polishes begin another new trend that KBShimmer has decided to expand upon. Textures. Yep. They gave us some textured glitter polishes and from the look and application of these, you wouldn't think these were their first. But it is KBShimmer, so I guess that's expected.

Too Pop To Handle is a "purple-toned fuchsia color, with violet, magenta and aqua holographic glitters." I used two coats for these pictures and topcoat was used where indicated. The glitter mixture in this polish is absolutely insanely gorgeous! Application was not hindered at all by the density of the glitters. This is such a great polish and right on trend!
KBShimmer Too Pop To Handle

This is shown with topcoat. Due to the textured finish, more than one coat of topcoat may be needed for a super smooth and glossy finish.
KBShimmer Too Pop To Handle

She Twerks Out is "a bold aqua polish, featuring teal, lime, and violet holographic glitters." Again, application was flawless in just two coats. Topcoat was used where indicated. This one reminds me of the beautiful waters of the Caribbean. It has a glowing brilliant blue/aqua tone that I have only seen with the beautiful ocean water in that region. As a teal/aqua polish lover, this is definitely my style! Oh and I cannot forget to mention that name! Ha! I always love to see the creative names they come up with, but this may just be an all-time favorite!

KBShimmer She Twerks Out

Partners In Lime is "a textured polish with lime, aqua, and gold holographic glitters." This polish screams summer like no other. It is brighter on that what it appeared in the bottle, which is perfectly fine with me. I used two coats and topcoat only where noted. Just as with every other polish I have shown you today, the formula is great. I had no issues at all.

Overall, I think we know that anything KBShimmer puts out will be well thought out, creatively named, unique, and absolutely amazing. As the indie market becomes continuously flooded with new brands, I always know I can count on KBShimmer for a great product. As indicated by the title of this post, there will be another summer collection coming out as well. For now, this one will be available on Friday, May 23, 2014 on the KBShimmer Website for U.S. customers and Harlow & Co. will have them available for  international customers. The textures and holos retail for $8.75 and the cremes for $7.50.

Twinsie Tuesday- Missed Theme

Nothing to Disclose
Happy Twinsie Tuesday Polished Babes! Today the Twinsies are bringing you manicures from a previous Twinsie Tuesday theme that we had to miss. Well, a few weeks ago, my sister Twinsies posted Matte and Gloss combo nails, but I had so much going on at the time and did not participate that week. So today, I give you my matte and gloss combo nails.

For this mani, I began with two coats of a black creme polish. I added topcoat and waited for it to completely dry. Then, I went in with my designs. I decided to do stripes and dots, which are fairly simple. For the dots, I started by adding a matte topcoat to my ring and index fingers. I added the dots using a dotting tool and clear topcoat.

For my pinky and middle fingers, I used striping tape and matte topcoat. I applied two coats of the matte topcoat and removed the tape while it was still wet.

I like the way this look came together, but it definitely wasn't what I initially envisioned.  I wish it would've come out a little neater, but at least it is still presentable! This is also an introduction to my newly filed nails! Those things were getting waaaay too long, so a chop down was needed. As always, I hope you like this look. Be sure to check out what the other Twinsies have for you today by clicking the links below!

Polish Addict Nail Color- Trust Me, I'm the Doctor Collection Review

Press Sample
Happy Sunday everyone! Sigh...this weekend has been cray cray for real! We had our first open house showing yesterday and today we have people coming to view it as well. Sigh... Anyway, I have another portion of some of the spring polishes from Polish Addict Nail Color to show you today. The Trust Me, I'm the Doctor collection is full of different colored soft pastels with a slightly scattered holo and shimmering frost-like finish. I used two to three coats on each polish. The formulas were okay on ost of them, but careful application is needed to minimize the appearance of brushstrokes.

Are You My Mummy? is the soft pastel of the collection. This is such a soft color and a perfect pink for the spring.

Bad Wolf is a shimmering champagne color. This would be great as a palette cleanser without getting too plain.

Planet Gallifrey is the shimmering pastel green. It has that sea foam green type of color. I love these minty type colors in the springtime!

Bananas Are Good! is a very, very light yellow color. It has a very pearly type of color and finish as well.

Time Lord is a pastel blue. Although pastel, it still was fairly bright and opaque.

Hello Sweetie is a shimmery purple pastel. This is my favorite of the bunch!

Jindie Nails Review Spam

Press Sample
Happy Friday again!! I have some new polishes from Jindie Nails to show you today. These are all from different collections, but they are appearing in her restock and launch happening today (5/16) at 12pm CDT. As always, Jen gives you a variety to choose from, so you shouldn't have a problem finding something that tickles your fancy!

First I will start with the Broncos vs. Seahawks Duo. These polishes will be available as a set and individually. You Mad Bro? is a bright green scattered holographic polish with subtle blue toned shimmer. Although a very bright green, it doesn't cross over into being a neon color. The formula was great and applied effortlessly in two coats. Topcoat was used.

Everyday I'm Russel'n is a gorgeous darkened teal crelly with gold flakes and microshimmer. I absolutely love the depth, color, and creativity that went into this creation. Unfortunately, the formula was very difficult to work with. It was very opaque in one coat; however, it was extremely thick making application quite difficult. I added some thinner, which only seemed to help a little. I also noticed some stringiness of the base, which I had to pull off the nail with a tweezer. I'm not really sure what the issue was with this, as this was the first time I've dealt with this type of formula issue from this brand.

Purplexed is a lilac colored scattered holo with silver undertones. I used two coats and topcoat for these photos. There were no application issues; however, this is one you should be very careful when applying due to the brushstrokes that remain on the nail. This is a very pretty color and I would never get tired of this type of delicate beauty.

The next two polishes are from the Recover Me Collection that Jen has been slowly releasing. Today is the First Day of the Rest of Your Life is a deep forest green scattered holo with added golden shimmer. I used two coats without topcoat. The formula was great and there were no issues with application at all. The color of this one looks great on my complexion, but I'm certain it will be flattering on various skin tones.

Love Yourself is a yellow based crelly with green undertones and shimmer. It has multiple sizes and shapes of large glitters in teal, yellow, white, green and blue. This one is packed with glitter. The densely packed glitters made this one a little chunky and application was somewhat impacted. I love the mixture included, but less glitters would have made for easier application and a smoother look. I used two thick coats of topcoat to help create smooth look; however, it was still a little lumpy.

S%&t Just Got Teal is one of the most unique polishes Jen has created. It is deep teal scattered holo with lime green and gold shimmer, as well as, lime green microglitters. Unfortunately, this one gave me all of the same issues as Everyday I'm Russel'n. This is another one coater, as it is very pigmented. Unfortunately, the formula was way too difficult. As you can see below, the payoff is great though! This is one coat and topcoat.

Overall, the creativity put into these polishes is remarkable. Unfortunately, the two that are the most unique, also have the most difficult formulas. I am hoping this was just an issue with my bottles, as I don't recall seeing anyone else mention problems with either polish. These polishes. along with many others, will be available today at 12PM CDT on the Jindie Nails Website. Be sure to follow the brand on Instagram and Facebook for updates on new releases and other information.

Have a great day!
