Twinsie Tuesday- Special Anniversary Post

Purchased by Me
Happy Friday Polished Babes! I know you probably think I've lost it. Why does this girl have a Twinsie Tuesday post on Friday?! Haha...I haven't lost it! Well, not completely, but that's beside point. Today (January 31st) is the 2nd Anniversary of the 1st Twinsie Tuesday post. To celebrate, the Twinsies were randomly matched with one another to recreate that person's 1st Twinsie Tuesday post.

I was assigned Elizabeth of Did My Nails. This girl has some beautiful nails and always has flawless manicures and nail art. It looks like Elizabeth's first post was on August 7, 2012. Wow...she's a Twinsie Veteran! Anyway, the theme that day was to show a glass fleck nail polish. Here is Elizabeth's post so you can see the polish she chose. Click HERE.

This prompt came at a really great time because I didn't own any glass fleck polishes until recently. My girl, and sister Twinsie, Lakeisha of Refined & Polished was honored by Mentality Nail Polish with her very own namesake polish. Exciting! Well, I knew I would support my friend's polish from her announcement of it and after seeing her swatch...wow! So here is Mentality Lakeisha, a vivid pink jelly with glass flecks. I used 3 thin coats, as the formula was rather sheer. To get that super gloss finish, I added HK Girl Topcoat by Glisten & Glow.

I have been into all things pink lately, partially because of Lakeisha's influence, as this is her favorite color. This is a really pretty polish and I really enjoyed wearing it.

I am super happy that my theme was a rather simple one. I was afraid I'd be matched with a Twinsie who created some super fancy nail art that I would never be able to pull off. Additionally, this prompt gave me the chance to wear and show of this pretty pink glass fleck jelly! So thank you so much Elizabeth!

Be sure to check out the other Twinsie's Anniversary Posts. I am really excited to see how each person interprets their assigned Twinsie's first post.

Liquid Sky Lacquer Review

Press Sample
Howdy Polished Babes! I hope your week is coming along well. The weather has been super crazy across the country. Here in Central Florida, it was 77 on Tuesday and only reached a high of 41 on Wednesday. Seriously Mother Nature? I hope you all are keeping safe and warm, as I am aware that conditions have been extreme and dangerous in many parts of the country. Hopefully these pretty polishes from Liquid Sky Lacquer can bring a little sunshine to your day. Here we go...

Purple Midnight is a dark purple jelly with silver and black glitters floating throughout the base. I used 3 thin coats to reach the depth that I prefer, but you definitely receive a great look at only 2 coats. There were no issues with the formula. I love the squishiness off this polish! It has a super glossy finish that works well with the jelly formula. It gives off that super glossy, wet type of look.

The next polish is called Gumdrop Forest, a mint colored milky base with turquoise, blue, and purple microglitters. I used 3 thin coats and the formula was perfection! I am such a huge fan of milky based polishes and the addition of the micro glitters, just puts me over the edge with this one! This is a super fun polish that is suitable for all ages.

Just Lucky....what can I say about this beauty? Oh wait....let me tell you about her first! This one is a color changing thermal polish with a shimmering champagne colored base. It has golden colored shimmer and transitions to a gorgeous red. The golden champagne color is visible when warm and it turns to red when cold. This is the red sister to 24 Karat Rose, which was reviewed HERE. Two coats and topcoat were used and the formula was impeccable. These are THE BEST thermal polishes I have ever tried. I really love them and the creativity taken to craft these unique beauties is simply amazing. Carolyn truly has something special with these polishes.

Here she is when warm...

Transitioning from warm to cold....

Still going....

This is Just Lucky in all her red glory! Ahhhh....

Well, that's all for today! I am hoping these beauties brightened your day, even if just a little. These shades are currently available in the Liquid Sky Lacquer Site. The only one that appears to be out of stock at the moment is Purple Midnight. If you're not already, be sure to follow the brand via social media for updates on new releases, restock dates, and specials. Liquid Sky can be found on Facebook and Instagram.

Have a good one!

Polish Addict Nail Color Valentine's Collection Review Part I

Press Sample
Happy Hump Day Polished Babes!!! Today I have a review of the Valentine's Collection by Polish Addict Nail Color (PANC). I was sent 10 polishes to review for the first launch and I have 5 of them to show you today. I am so pleased with all of the polishes I have received and Laura continues to amaze me with her creations. Great job Laura and it is awesome to see how you are continuing to blossom and improve your already amazing creations! Let's get to it, shall we?

First up is LE Pink Sugar, a rosy pink toned scattered holographic polish. I used 2 easy coats and topcoat for these photos. This is such a sweet shade. It doesn't have the strongest holo effect, but it is a great match for this shade. Perfect for Valentine's Day!

Dark Kisses is a cranberry red jelly with multiple shapes and sizes of glitters floating throughout the base. This formula was EXCELLENT! I used 3 thin coats and the depth achieved was amazing. The base was opaque, yet sheer enough to allow the perfect amount of pop, making it easy to see all of the glitters included.

Eclipse of the Heart is a glitter topper with multiple colors of glitters including, red circles, gold hexes, and blue hexes. This is extremely versatile and can be worn over a variety of base colors to achieve different looks. I used 2 thin coats over Zoya Skylar. This one is packed full of glitter, so you can adjust the thickness of application and number of coats to reach your desired look.

Next is Unicorn 2.2, a linear holographic topcoat with a slightly lavendar tinted base, flakies, and glitters. This polish can be worn alone or over any color you choose to create an intense holographic effect. I chose to wear it alone and I LOVED the extreme holo shine that I achieved in 3 thin coats. Seriously....just look at that shine!!

The last polish I have to show you today is called Cupid's TKO, which is a milky white crelly based polish with multiple shapes and sizes of pink, purple, white, blue, and black glitters in the base. Say what? Yes ma'am!! This is so me and my favorite of the ones I was sent. I wore this for a few days because I couldn't imagine my life without it. Not so soon anyway! Haha... I have issues! Anyway, this was 3 thin coats and topcoat.

So...um...yeah...these are a HIT!! Big time! I don't know how PANC continues to do it, but she is truly making a major impact on the indie scene with these babies. Unfortunately, my review comes to you after the polishes have already been launched. That dang USPS truly knows how to mess up my nail mail. <insert side eye here> Better late than never though, right? These pretties were launched last Friday, but they are still available. You can find them all in the PANC store by CLICKING HERE. Don't forget to follow PANC on social media via Instagram and Facebook.

Have a happy Hump Day!

Twinsie Tuesday- Nail Care Routine

Hello Polished Babes!!! Today is a super fun Twinsie Tuesday theme, as it is really different from any I have participated in (hahaha...3) or seen over the months I've been following the Twinsies. Today we I are tasked with showing you our nail care routine! Woop Woop! I have had so many people ask me about my routine and if I have a dedicated post, so here ya go loves! Additionally, I previously reviewed some of my favorite products from Glisten & Glow and you can find that post HERE.

**In the interest of full disclosure... My routine is slightly different at the moment because I am reviewing some hand and nail care treatments from Barielle, but these are my usual steps.**

*You will also see that I am a bit obsessive and slightly ridiculous with the amount of products I use.*

I'm going to walk you through a night of a full manicure and then explain my daily care as well. First, I have the products I use to give myself an at-home manicure. Here we have my Glisten & Glow Salt Hand Scrub (sorry for the water damaged packaging), which I use to exfoliate and remove any dead skin from my hands. I use the dawn soap (fortified with Olay Hand Renewal) for the soaking and cleansing aspect of the manicure. My go to cuticle remover has been the Blue Cross, but I have recently taking a great liking to the Julep Vanish, which I received in a Maven subscription box. I usually complete this entire process twice each week. I follow up with a warm olive oil soak, which really hydrates my nails and cuticles.

The following picture shows all of the tools that I usually use. I DO NOT recommend using cuticle nippers to actually trim your cuticles. I use these if there are any hangnails or other small snags of skin that need to be removed. The way I remove excess cuticle growth is to apply one of the removers shown above and I use the cuticle pusher to gently push them back. I use a crystal glass file to shape my nails, especially since I prefer the really sharp squared edges.

Here is my soaking with the Olay, which was followed by the hand scrub. The bowl is discolored from my ridiculously failed attempts at water marbling! LOL!

One of the most essential aspects of a good hand, nail, and cuticle care routine is MOISTURIZING. I really cannot even begin to explain how important this is. Since getting into my nails, I have seen such an enormous improvement in my cuticles and nails, simply due to the impact of moisture. I am somewhat obsessive, but you don't have to be this extreme! I will say, you should strive to moisturize your hands each time you wash them and give your cuticles some attention, at least once each day. Remember my mentioning the olive oil treatments above? Well, these Burt's Bees gloves come in handy on those nights. After the treatment, I rub the excess oil into my hands, slather on a bunch of cuticle oil, and wear these gloves overnight. Ahh...the hydration is AMAZING!!!
The Burt's Bees Cuticle Balm should not be in this picture!
The obsessions continues....here are my cuticle care items! I usually rub these on ALL DAY....literally. Anytime I have a spare moment or I am just sitting, whether in class or in the office at my internship, I am rubbing! My cuticles...of course! Tsk, tsk! Hehe! I alternate between the nail strengthening creams, cuticle balms, and the oils. I usually use the Glisten & Glow oil throughout the day, as it is lighter and more portable than the others. I have the Polish Addict one in the center console of my truck and I apply it when sitting in traffic or at a red light! After my full manicure routine and hydration is complete, I apply the a nail strengthening cream, then a balm, and oil. I usually use the Glisten & Glow or Bliss (which is fairly new to me) before my photographs for the blog.

Here are the treatments that I currently use to grow and strengthen my nails. I usually use a combination of the Duri Rejuvacote and Nail Envy as my base coat. I find that it provides me the best protection and my nails grow crazy fast! The Nail Magic is really great and has been essential in my nails becoming super strong and healthy.

Here they are...trimmed, filed, hydrated and ready for some polish!

So there's my nail care routine! The extremely sad and embarrassing part is...this post doesn't include EVERYTHING I use!! I am a hoarder of all sorts! Hehe! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to leave them in the comments section below! Don't forget to check out what the other Twinsies do to keep their nails looking fabulous!

Jindie Nails- You Can't Turn a Ho-lo Into a Housewife

Purchased by Me
Happy Monday lovelies!!! I am super excited, as I woke up to 15,000 likes on my Facebook Fan Page! It has been so awesome to see the Share the Love movement that has gone around through social media. Today I have really pretty mani I wore a few weeks ago. I used one of my favorite indie brands...Jindie Nails to create this look.

I started with 3 thin coats of You Can't Turn a Ho-lo Into a Housewife. Haha...leave it to Jen for the super creative name! This polish is a silvery purple duochrome holo, which flashes shades of blue at different angles. The most prominent shade I noticed is the purple color. There were no issues with this formula. This is more of a scattered holo, rather than a linear type. This is absolutely perfect for those who aren't really into the "BAM...in yo face" linear holographic polishes. Don't get me wrong, this baby is a beauty though!

Gosh...this is stunning!

I decided to spice up this beauty a bit and give another try at animal print nail art. My idea was to use zebra type stripes, but...umm...well... that was a fail! Ha! I went back to the leopard print that I tried before and it wasn't as bad as the zebra! I really need to practice this more. OH well....here you have it!

Seriously? You don't have to laugh so hard! Haha...that's okay! Keep watching and I will make you wish you hadn't laughed at my little attempt! Have a good day!

Smooches!

Busy Girls Winter Nail Challenge Week 2: White

Purchased by Me
Press Sample
Happy Sunday Polished Babes! Toady's post features a review of nail studs from the Born Pretty Store, as well as week 2 of the Busy Girls Nail Challenge. This week's theme was white, so these studs were the perfect addition to give this look a nice twist.

I started the manicure using two coats of OPI's Alpine Snow on my pinky and index fingers. For my ring and middle fingers, I used 2 coats of Tillie Polish Snow Bunny, which is a milky white jelly based with silver glitter in the base.

I added the nail studs from the Born Pretty store to the pinky and index fingers. I had never seen studs like these, so this was an interesting look for me. They are silver hollow squares and are great for adding the appearance of dimension to a manicure. They can be used in multiple ways, even to create a 3D look. I simply added them in alternating diamond and squire patterns on the index and one square on the pinky finger. Even with the curve of my nails, they managed to stay flat and gave me no problems at all.

I really love how this look came together. Be sure to check out the Born Pretty Store, as they have a vast array of products at super low prices. Shipping is always free and you can use my code EQL91 for an additional 10% off your order.

Have you joined the challenge? If so, be sure to tag all of your pics with #busygirlnails on social media. If not, see the image below for the weekly details.

Barielle Nude & Naughty Collection

Press Sample
Hi there Polished Babes! Today I have my first review of products from Barielle. The Nude & Naughty Collection consists of five neutral toned shades, ranging from very light to dark colors. It seems that there is a color in here to fit everyone's complexion and tastes.

Very Bare is described as an "opalescent pink." This shade really tightly treads the line between a creamy white and very pale pink crelly. I used three coats, as the first two coats were somewhat uneven when applied. The third coat evened everything out and I really love the outcome! It dried to a surprisingly glossy finish. This shade seems to be universally flattering and could definitely serve as a palette cleanser.

The next polish is called Pillow Talk, which is a "pale peach" crelly. The formula was very sheer, so I used three coats and there were no issues with application. This one seems to be the peach colored sister to Very Bare.

No Not Now is described as a "sheer toffee" color. Hmmm....I don't quite get the sheer aspect of the description; however, it is a lighter toffee color. It has some pinkish undertones and subtle shimmer, which becomes more apparent in different lighting conditions. I used 3 thin coats and there were no issues with the formula or application.

This next shade is my favorite of the collection! I Got a Headache is a "shimmery caramel" colored creme base. This one was very sheer, but applied smoothly in three coats. I really love the earthy tone of this one and the copper shimmer really makes it standout! Again, when dry, it was super glossy without topcoat.

In Good Taste is a "chocolate brown" creme. This polish has a really great formula and went on really easily in two coats. It is a really nice brown, but it seemed to appear slightly lighter than expected by the bottle color. I really love the shade and I was expecting it to be a tad darker, but this is the perfect milk chocolate brown!

So this collection is a really nice range of neutral colors, which I totally love. The polish names...haha...they are really playing off the "Nude & Naughty" collection name well! At first glance, this collection can be overlooked as "just more neutrals," but after wearing these shades, you will truly be surprised by the variety and uniqueness of the polishes. The Nude & Naughty Collection can be purchased as a set for $25 by clicking here and they are also available individually. You can also visit Barielle's main site by clicking HERE. Don't forget to follow Barielle on Facebook for exciting news regarding sweepstakes, upcoming collections, and other exciting information.
