Hiyah there Polished Babes! Can you believe that October is almost over? Where has the time gone? Anyway, I have a review of three polishes from the indie brand, Smokey Mountain Lacquers to share with you today. This is my first time trying this brand, so let's check out my experiences.
Rolling Pastures is a green jelly with green holo circles and hexes, as well as gold microglitters. Because of the jelly base, the polish was rather sheer. I used three coats and topcoat here. There were no issues with application. However, it was very difficult to get a lot of the circle out, even after leaving the bottle upside down for several minutes. Either way, I think this is a really cool combo and this would be perfect for St. Patrick's day!
4 Inch Heels is a cherry red jelly with holo stars, hexes, and microglitters. Again, the formula was sheer, but built up nicely in just three coats. I had difficulty getting the larger glitters (especially the stars) out of this one, but no major issues with application.
Purple Iris is a blue based purple jelly with holo circles and blue and fuchsia microglitters. I used three thin coats and topcoat here. This one is really pretty, but sheerer than the others. Even after three coats, there was still some VNL (visible nail line). Again, the larger glitters circle glitters were really stubborn and difficult to retrieve. In different lighting, it seems more blue and other lighting it looks more purple. Either way, I really like this one!
Overall, these were some good polishes and I had a pleasant first experience with Smokey Mountain Lacquers. The polishes retail for $7.50 (15ml) and $3.75 (5ml). Additionally, the brand has a limited time offer of free shipping on all orders over $30. Click HERE for the website.
Happy Hump Day Polished Babes! Today I have a few polishes from New York Color's fall collection to share with you. All of these polishes are the perfect fall hues and remind me of the beautiful trees I am seeing up here in New England.
NYC Crown Gold is a golden chrome/metallic polish. It was opaque in one coat, but I used two per the usual. The formula was good, but you must be careful to minimize the appearance of brushstrokes. Another warning (or good thing if you choose to use only one coat) is that it dries extremely quickly. I guess it is living it to the name. Since this was the case, the second coat dragged the first a little, so I ended up having to reapply. Otherwise, there were no major issues.
NYC Royal Chic is a brown creme with deep plum undertones. The formula was good, but streaky on the first coat. Everything leveled out perfectly with the addiction of the second coat. There were no issues with application and it dried to a super glossy finish.
NYC Queen of the City is a burgundy shimmer polish. The formula was absolutely amazing on this one. It was completely opaque in just one coat, but I still used two. There were no issues at all with this one. It's my favorite of these!
Overall, these are some pretty fall shades. They are available online by clicking HERE. They can also be purchased in various ass retailers throughout the nation. The great thing is they are only $1.99!
Happy Monday again Polished Babes!!! I have a very special giveaway to share with you from The Beauty Blogazons! We are happy to have ONE winner receive a $200 gift card to Sephora. Entering is super easy. Just follow the directions below by joining us on Instagram!
Happy Monday lovelies! I hope you had a good weekend. I spent about hours at the salon on Saturday getting some twists. I really love how it came out! Plus, it is a great and low maintenance hairstyle for the upcoming winter, since I am sure I will need to put things on my head. Ain't nobody got time for messed up hair! Anyway, let's take a look at the Zoya Ignite Collection for Fall 2014.
Autumn, according to the brand, is "a varnished copper liquid metal." The formula was somewhat thin, but not problematic. I needed two coats for it to become opaque. There were no issues with application. This one is perfect for the season, just as the name suggests.
Remy is a "brilliant indigo with copper and gold liquid metallic." This one took my by surprise! I knew it was really pretty, but it's so much better on the nail than the bottle. This one shot right up to one of my faves from the first stroke of application. It has a flawless formula that's opaque in one coat. I used two as usual though. This is a perfect mermaid type of polish.
India is described by the brand as "a deep luxurious red, with a gold liquid metallic shimmer." The formula on this was good and went on easily in two coats. There were no issues with application. This is another one that has the perfect colors for the fall.
Yuna is "a full-coverage warm grey with copper and gold liquid metal." Yes, Yes, and Yes again! I knew I'd love this one from the moment these were first previewed. It was sheer on the first coat, but completely opaque in two coats. This one is stunning!
Teigen, according to the brand, is "a full-coverage pink toned cranberry with copper liquid metal." At first glance, this one appears to be very similar to India. Although they are in the same color family, this one is much more berry, while India really stands out as a red. This one was rather sheer, so three coats were used for opacity. There were no application issues.
Sansa is a " deep eggplant with a gold metallic sparkle, in the flawless full-coverage, liquid metal formula." This one was probably the most highly anticipated polish of the collection. When this was initially previewed by Zoya, nail fanatics from all over went crazy. Apparently the name references some sort of movie or TV show that people love. I have no idea which and I'm currently too lazy to Google it. Anyway, this is my absolute favorite of the collection. This beauty has the perfect formula, going on without any issues in just two coats. I absolutely LOVE this one!
Overall, I really love this collection, just as I knew I would. I really wish I had been able to capture the shimmer in some of the polishes better, but I did my best. Have you pocked up anything from this collection? If not, be sure to check out Zoya's Website to purchase.
