Happy Thursday lovelies! Today I am bringing you another linked post with the fabulous Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida. We are Lighting it Up Blue for Autism Awareness Month. The Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) refer to multiple disorders that adversely impact brain development. People who are impacted by these disorders present with a multitude of difficulties with social interactions, relating to others, communication barriers, and ritualistic and repetitive behaviors. Recent statistics show that ASDs impact 1 in 68 children, most of whom are boys (1 in 42). Girls are impacted at a significantly lower rate (1 in 189), contributing to the perplexing nature of the disorders. Research is needed in many areas to determine causes and the most effective forms of intervention. If you would like additional information on the Autism Spectrum Disorders, please click HERE.
Today's mani is my tribute to Autism and those who are impacted daily. Blue is the symbolic color used for Autism Awareness, so I wanted to be sure that it was the primary color used in this manicure. Additionally, I wanted a blue that would really sparkle and shine, representing the way these special children (and adults) light up everyone's lives. To serve that purpose, I chose Essie Lots of Lux, a shimmering blue textured polish with golden shimmer. I applied two coats to my index and pinky fingers. It was actually opaque in one coat, but I always prefer two.
For the ring finger accent nail, I applied two coats of OPI I Can't Cope-acabana, a yellow creme that was released with the Brazil Collection. I have seen so many mixed reviews on this polish, but the formula was pretty good. I didn't have any issues at all. I then taped off the middle and added Essie Lots of Lux. To complete this nail, I added circular blue studs from Pueen Cosmetics down the yellow strip.
For the middle finger accent nail, I decided to try out the puzzle pieces, which is another symbol related to Autism Awareness. I used the following colors: OPI I Can't Cope-acabana (yellow), OPI The Spy Who Loved Me (red w/gold shimmer), Essie Mesmerized (blue), and Essie Mojito Madness (green). This was my first time trying any type of interlocking design and I am fairly pleased with how it turned out. This isn't worthy of any special recognition, but it was the best I could do! LOL!
I think I like this look...what about you? Again, I am extremely happy to be participating in another linked post with the wonder ladies of the Central Florida Beauty Bloggers. Be sure to check out some of their looks below! Have a great day!
