What day is it? Huuump Day! Haha...gosh that commercial cracks me up! It can never get old! It's Wednesday so I am back at my internship. Wednesdays are always really long. It's the busiest day of the week, with meeting after meeting and a steady flow of walk in clients. Anyway, I still love what I do! Let's get on to some nail polish. I have one of Barielle's Spring 2014 collections to show you today. This collection is called the Velvets and are described by the brand as "soft, romantic, and dreamy colors that are warm, yet rich and totally feminine."
Cream N Sugar is a "sheer, soft pink." This polish is a super sheer jelly/crelly formula. I used four coats and it was still practically bare looking on my nails. I think this would be a good shade to use for a nude toned jelly sandwich, but it is definitely not one that I can pull off. I felt this one was way to sheer and it was not flattering on me at all. It was a tad too close to wearing my regular base coat. Again, this is 4 coats because I refused to continue adding more.
Uptown Girl is a "soft beige" cream. The formula was sheer, so 3-4 coats were used to achieve this look. The formula was a tad streaky and patchy with the first few coats. It leveled out well and looked very smooth once finished. This is a really pretty neutral tone and I think it would be flattering on many complexions.
My Week Away is a "dusty pink" cream with a hint of shimmer. I used 3 thin coats and the formula was absolutely perfection! The shimmer adds a flattering aspect to what would possibly be "just another neutral pink." This is definitely my type of polish!
My Tan Blazer is a "tan, camel color" cream polish with a pretty good formula. I used two easy coats for these photos. I love this type of polish, as it is a yellowish/greenish/tan grungy type of color. I don't know what it is that always attracts me to these colors, but I find them really intriguing!
A Little Exotic is a "muted, rusty rose." WOW!! This polish has an amazing formula and was practically opaque in one coat! This is the type of polish that Barielle is so great at creating. Adding to the great things about this one, is that it dries to a super high gloss finish, even without topcoat.
Sexy Mood is a "muted magenta" cream polish. Again, Barielle cranked out a great formula on this one! I used two coats, but I could have gotten away with one. Application was a breeze and I felt like it was applying itself. I'm not sure if it was just my bottle or what. But this one was much more along the purple spectrum than the advertisements and descriptions suggest. Hmmm....Well, I don't really care because it is a really pretty color and the formula is magnificent!
Overall, I think Barielle is a master of these types of polishes. I am not completely in love with each polish in this collection, but it is still a really good collection as a whole. By far, my favorite of these is My Week Away. All of these shades are perfect for the transition into the Spring season, which I know many of you are looking forward to because of this extremely harsh winter.
Stay tuned for the second spring collection from Barielle, which will be posted soon. You can find these shades for $8 each on Barielle's Website.
