Happy Tuesday Polished Babes! Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is to present red nails in honor of American Heart Month. I found this fact interesting when doing a little research on the history of the month...The president is constitutionally obligated to make an annual declaration that distinguishes February as American Heart Month. I guess I never realized these there was such a political foundation to many of these dedicated months. If you are interested in seeing President Obama's 2014 Proclamation, you can view it by clicking HERE. Some of the most common risk factors associated with heart disease are smoking, inactivity, and family history of the disease. You can find more information about the risk factors from the National Institutes of Health. I found this information interesting and very helpful. I hope you can benefit from reading it as well.
For my red nails mani, I decided to crack open my bottle of MAC Riri Woo. O.M.G. This is a super gorgeous true bright red polish that was opaque in ONE COAT. I have heard that the formulas on some of MAC's polishes aren't good, but this baby was fantastic. Of course, I used two coats because I am just anal that way! OK? OK. To create the accent nail on my ring finger, I started with two cots of OPI Alpine Snow, which is a stark white creme. The formula on this white is really great and I love how it levels off very well. I added a dabbed coat of Maybelline Color Show Street Art Glitter Topper in Wild at Heart. I love the splattered look of this and it truly pops over the white polish.
The last step was to add these super cute splatter studs that I just received in the mail from Serum No.5. The white and black add the perfect touch! I have to thank Twinsie Lakeisha for her review and introducing these babies to me. In all, I really like the way this look came together. For the middle finger, I did my best attempt at making a heart that borders the corner of the tip. Sigh...I really need to practice more before putting these things out in public! I dabbed a few specs of glitter to tie it into the ring finger accent.
What do you think of this look? Do you notice anything different about this post? If you guessed the length of my nail, you are correct. I have been initiated into the nub club! I had 2 horrible breaks and I just filed them all to start fresh. Uneven nails? Who does that anyway? I am trying to embrace the nubs, but I truly hate the way my fingers look when my nails are this short. I really like my nails better with a little length to them. I will definitely be on my nail growth game, because this is not the vision.
Be sure to check out the other Twinsies to see their red nails for American Heart Month. Let me see those red nails ladies!
