Twinsie Tuesday- Inspired by Your BFF

NothingtoDisclose

Happy Twinsie Tuesday lovelies! Today the Twinsies have returned and we are welcoming some new members to the crew! I would like to welcome Marisa at A Beauty in the Business, Sara at The Call of Beauty, Sharon at Behind Green Eyes, and Steph at Lovestruck Lacquer. Welcome ladies....so glad to have you join!

Today's theme is "Inspired by Your BFF." I decided to do this mani based on my BFF Athanasia. I've talked about her a few times on the blog, but she's my girl! Since she and I share a lot of common interests, including a love for makeup, nail polish (especially holos), and favorite colors, creating this post was fairly easy! I began with a base of two coats of OPI DS Extravagance. This is a beautiful berry colored scattered holographic polish with an amazing formula. People have read about this polish forever, but this was my first time using it. I absolutely love this color and it's perfect for the fall.

OPI-DS-Extravagance

She usually goes for pretty simple skittlette type manis and loves to mix stripes, dots, and chevrons. I simply added vertical stripes on my middle finger and polka dots on my ring finger. I used one of my favorite black policies, Orly Liquid Vinyl for the black. I don't think you could ever go wrong with a simple mani with accents!
OPI-DS-Extravagance

I can't wait to see what the other ladies created for today's theme. Also, don't forget to stop by and visit our new Twinsies and welcome them to the group!

Twinsie Tuesday- Ocean Inspired

PressSample
Hey there everyone! It's been a long, long time since I have made an appearance on P2P. I know, I know.... I've thought about making a separate post to "announce" my return to blogging multiple times. However, I decided against doing so, as it's just not me. I didn't feel like an announcement was fitting, as it sometimes (IMO) comes off to be somewhat self-serving, "woe is me," and vain. Again, these are just my feelings, so please don't take me wrong. I just didn't want to be all like... "Hey, I'm back!" And y'all are all like... "Umm...and?" Hopefully you get my drift. At the end of the day, time away from P2P was needed for multiple reasons. Aaaanyywaay...on to the post....

I am back here today and excited to share a post with the Twinsie Tuesday Group. As a refresher, the fabulous group of bloggers create weekly (Tuesdays...duh!) themed posts and share them with our readers. This week's theme is "Ocean Inspired." To be honest, there hasn't been a lot of polish wearing in my life recently, but I have been drawn to certain colors more than others. Recently, that "magical" color has been blue. Literally...all shades of blue. Since the ocean is the theme, blue is a very logical and safe choice.
Ocean-Inspired-Manicure

I used KBShimmer Low & Be Bold for this mani. This blue is one of my favorite polishes! Two easy coats leaves you with perfectly bold cobalt blue nails. I mean...who doesn't love a pretty blue polish?
Ocean-Inspired-Manicure

I wanted something simple, so I decided to create some negative space stripes on my middle and ring fingers while adding seashell studs for the touch of ocean inspiration.  If you know anything about me (yes...you will have to think pretty far back), you know that I really love to create nail art looks with double accent nails, so I am really happy with how these turned out. What do you think? Do you have any other ideas for an ocean inspired manicure?

Make sure you check out the Ocean Inspired manicures from the other Twinsies! Toodles!

Firmoo Eyewear Review

PressSample

Happy Friday lovelies!!! I was recently contacted by a representative from Firmoo.com asking if I would be interested in reviewing a pair of their frames. Here are some things you should know about Firmoo.com:
-They are an online only store.
-Shipping is really quick, even though they are based in Asia.
-Frames can be purchased with or without prescriptions.
-You are able to tint the frames in a variety of colors and shade intensities.
-There are styles for men and women.
-They frequently have sales and specials, making the prices a major steal!
-If you are a new customer, they have a First Pair Free Program.

I am sharing my review of the frames I chose with you today.  The frames I have are item # F1007 in Tortoise.  These are a lightweight plastic frame in the tortoise color. This style also comes in black. I chose to have these as a pair of fashion frames, so I did not add my eyeglasses prescription. The glasses arrived very quickly and came in a sturdy hard-shell case, with a velvet pouch, a tiny screwdriver, and cleansing cloth.
Firmoo Eyeglasses

I absolutely love the fit! They were prefect for me! At one point, I thought I would regret not getting my prescription, but once I wore them, I knew I made the right decision. They are super comfy and very versatile. I like wearing them to accessorize with certain looks.
 Firmoo Eyeglasses

One thing I noticed about these frames is they are super lightweight and I love that! I actually forgot I was wearing them, until someone pointed it out to me. Since I am mostly a contact lenses wearer, I get aggravated and I am usually in pain pretty quickly when I wear my glasses. With these frames, I didn't feel as though there was a lot of pressure around my nose or ears and I didn't end up with a headache. That's a major win in my book because I usually prepare myself for a headache (packing pain pills) when I have to wear my glasses.
Firmoo Eyeglasses

Overall, I am really loving my frames from Firmoo.com. My interaction with the company has been nothing but positive and I will certainly try out more frames from them very soon. I think I may grab a pair of prescription sunglasses next. I am loving how they look on me! What do you think of these frames? Let me know below and have a Happy Friday!

The Polish Bar Spring 2015 Collection Review

The Polish Bar Spring 2015 Collection
PressSample
Hi lovelies! I hope you've had a good weekend thus far. I have the Spring 2015 Collection from The Polish Bar to share with you today. This collection consists of two sheer jellies, two holos, and two crellies with flakies. Let's dive right in...

Cotton Candy  is described by the maker as "a light pink crelly with hot pink, light pink, light purple, gray and white dot glitters." The formula on this was quite difficult to work with, as the base was really thick. The glitters were also really difficult to get out; however, I was working with a mini bottle which are sometimes known to present difficulties when applying. Unfortunately, I had to pour some of the polish out, while trying to grab light amount of the base and dab the glitters in place. This resulted in a somewhat thick and lumpy appearance. It appears that topcoat smoothed it out for the most part, but it was still too thick for my liking.

On a Cloud is described as a "light blue crelly with yellow, aqua, purple, green and light blue dot glitters." This is a blue version of Cotton Candy and, unfortunately, gave me the same problems as described above.

White Lilac is "a light lilac holographic polish with silver glass flecks." The formula on this one was absolutely PERFECT! I used two coats and topcoat. I love the softness and this is a great spring polish!

Diamonds in the Sky is a "medium blue mega holographic polish." Again, the formula in this one was great! I used two coats and topcoat. I can never get enough of a good blue holo polish!

Sweet Pea is "a white crelly with deep violet, hot pink, lavender, blue, indigo and iridescent micro flakies, purple glass flecks and a small amount of holographic pigment." The formula on this one was good, but thin. I needed four thin coats for it to become completely opaque. Again, this color is a great one for the spring season. I am partial to the name of this polish, since I call my Kendall, Sweet Pea!

The last polish I have to show you is called, Green Goddess. It is "a mint green crelly with violet, lavender, iridescent and purple micro flakies, pink, blue and purple glass flecks, hot pink micro glitter and a small amount of holographic pigment." The formula was easy to work with and went on without any issues in three thin coats.

Overall, I like this collection, with the exception of the crelly glitters. I would be curious to see if they performed any differently with a full sized bottle. Anyway, these are all available in The Polish Bar's shop now. They can purchased as a set in full sized ($50) and minis ($28). They are also available individually in full sized bottle for $8.50 or $11. Additional information is listed below.

Doctor Lacquer- Something Spatial: Stars Collection Review

PressSample
Hi there lovelies! As some of you may already know, I ventured back into the word of working a few months ago. I am the Assistant Director of a Residential Facility for Adolescents up here in New Hampshire. I absolutely LOVE my job! Not only am I working in the field associated with all three of my degrees, but I am working with the population (adolescents) that I love to work with. It is challenging, yet very rewarding. Tonight, I had the opportunity to help one of our girls get ready for her senior prom! Soooo exciting! She looked absolutely beautiful! Anyway...let's take a look at the Something Spatial: Stars Collection from Doctor Lacquer.

This collection consists of four trip-color flake thermal nail polishes! Whoa, right?! LOL! Well...these are created to transition between three different colors at varying temperatures. I was able to capture the transition of some better than others, as you will see below. All of these had good formulas and required three tofu coats for opacity. There were no issues with any of them, with the exception of one (noted below), appearing to react somewhat strangely with my topcoat (KBShimmer Clearly on Top). Regardless, these are all wins in my book!

According to the brand, "Fomalhaut has purple-gold shifting flakes with a jelly base that transitions from an olive green at its coldest, yellow when cold, and a soft lilac when warm." This is one that was fairly easy to capture in the three different states. I never saw a true yellow tone come out, but  more of a pale gold color during the cold state. I used four coats, as this was one of the sheerer formulas of the collection. I love the lilac with the olive undertones state the most!

"Antares has yellow-gold shifting flakes with a jelly base that smoothly and subtly transitions from a red orange hue at its coldest, yellow orange when cold, and a dainty chiffon yellow when warm." The formula on this one was good and reached opacity in three coats. This is the one that appeared to react to my topcoat. I don't know...it was weird. It seemed to wrinkle up after I applied the topcoat. I didn't have that issue with any of the others. Other than that minor mishap, there were no real issues with this polish.

Doctor Lacquer describes Betelgeuse in the following way: "Betelgeuse has reddish-gold flakes with a jelly base that transitions from a deep red at its coldest, red when cold, and light pink when warm." This is one of my favorites from this collection! The formula was GREAT and was one of the more opaque polishes in the collection. I used two coats and topcoat here. I LOVE the colors of this one!

The last polish I have is Vega. "Vega has pinkish-blue flakes with a jelly base that softly transitions from a deep eggplant purple at its coldest, bluish violet when cold, and magenta pink when warm." This is my absolute favorite from this collection! I just love the colors and the formula is perfect! I used three thin coats here. Ahhh....I love it!

Overall, I really like this collection! I wish I was able to capture all three colors better than I was, but I guess my body temperature wasn't having it! LOL! Anyway, the Something Special: Stars Collection is available as a set in medium (10.5ml) for $27 and full size (16.5 ml) for $38. They are also sold individually. Full sizes are $9.99 and medium sizes are $6.99 each. Be sure to check out the important info listed below! Have a great weekend!

Twinsie Tuesday- Inspired by Your Favorite Cup/Mug

KBShimmer Shade Shifter

PressSample
Happy Twinsies Tuesday lovelies!!! I know...I know! Long time, no post eh? Well, sometimes life gets in the way. One of the biggest things that took place recently, was my sweet Kendall had surgery to have her tonsils removed. :( Boy was that horrible! I hate the helpless feeling of knowing you are doing something that's in your child's best interest, yet it causes them pain. A LOT of pain. Pain that she is too young to understand and too young to have to endure. Anyway, we (she) made it through and she is back to herself! Thanks to everyone who saw my Instagram post and said a prayer for her.

**In other news.... I am wearing liquid gel over my natural nails, as they were horrible throughout the brutal winter here in New England. Also, a few diamonds were missing from my wedding ring (I guess it's really the engagement ring), so I am wearing my anniversary band with my wedding bands until they return from the jeweler.)**

Today's post calls for the Twinsies to share a manicure inspired by a favorite cup or mug. My choice shouldn't come as a surprise, as this particular Starbucks tumbler has been all over the place lately. I think I saw one blogger refer to it as "The Nail Blogger Cup" or something of that nature! I love collecting different mugs and tumblers from Starbucks, so I knew I had to have this when I first laid my eyes on it. It's a purple, teal, and blue colored duochrome metal tumbler. It's one of the pricier ones, but it is so worth it! Hehe!

To represent "The Nail Blogger Cup," I used KBShimmer Shade Shifter. According to KBShimmer, "Shade Shifter is a multi-chrome that changes depending on light and angle from cyan, to blue, to red orange, to purple, and more." In other words, perfection in a bottle! To make it even better, the formulas was great and went on without any issues in just three thin coats. I used one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top for a quick drying and super shiny topcoat.

Ahhhhh....I just love polishes like this! I must say, I thought I was really doing it with my matching cup and nails at work! Haha! I did receive a lot of compliments, so....

Such a perfect match!

Anyway, I love how this polish appears to be the perfect representation of this tumbler. With the popularity of this particular tumbler at the moment, I would be surprised if another Twinsie didn't use this same one for their mani. Well, enough talking. Let's take a look at what they chose. Links below!
